The Pelleting Process & Moisture Requirements
The secret of our flat die coal pellet mill is in high-pressure extrusion and friction between the rollers and the die. During the pelleting process, the powdered coal is first mixed with a binder, such as starch, and stirred evenly. To achieve optimal pelletizing results, the moisture content of the coal powder must be strictly controlled at 8%-12%, and the binder (such as starch or coal tar) addition ratio is generally maintained at 3%-5%.
Extrusion Friction & Mechanical Hardness
Then the mixture enters the pelleting chamber. The rollers apply instantaneous high pressure while friction generates heat, compacting the powder into dense, smooth, and bright pellets. This process allows direct pelleting and ensures high-quality 5 mm coal pellets for water purification. The final extruded cylindrical pellets boast a mechanical hardness of over 95%, ensuring they maintain their structural integrity and will not easily dissolve or turn to sludge during long-term water immersion.
