DGP Series Dry Fish Feed Machine: Cost-Effective & Boiler-Free Production

Floating fish feed pellet mill is used for making floating fish feed pellets for various aquatic specie. There are two types of the machines, one is the dry type, another is the wet type which needs a steam boiler to inject the steam when pelletizing. Our DGP series dry type floating fish feed pellet machine is designed for cost-effective aquafeed extrusion, and it does not require an external steam boiler. It is designed for small and medium scale fish farms and fish feed factories, it can process grains and proteins into high premium floating feed pellets for fish feed, shrimp feed, catfish feed, goldfish feed and tilapia feed etc various aquafeed and also pet foods.

This floating fish feed pellet machine utilizes intense mechanical friction and high pressure extrusion which can generates high temperature (130-150℃), it ensures superior starch gelatinization and improves protein digestibility, the final pellets produced by this fish feed machine can float for 12-24 hours stability. This machine also called fish feed extruder, is widely used for processing a variety of raw materials into high-grade aquatic feed pellets. 1. Improve Water Stability (12-24 Hours)

The highly expanded pellets can float on water surface for 12-24 hours and maintain their shape without dissolving. Fish farmers can monitor the fish-eating behavior easily, reduce feed waste 60–70% (depending on the initial level of management and the species of fish), and protect the aquatic environment from pollution. Puffed floating fish feed can reduce the pollution of water quality. It is extremely beneficial to environmental protection and to the growth of fish.

2. Improve Feed Utilization

The high-temperature, high-pressure process breaks down complex starches and fats, significantly boosting the palatability and nutrient absorption rate for aquatic species. The dust ratio of the final pellets is strictly controlled within 1%. In addition, due to the physical and chemical changes in the puffing process, the powder ratio of puffed feed is generally within 1%.

3. Versatile Output (0.9mm to 15mm)

How Does the floating fish feed pellet machine work

This floating fish feed pellet mill is the core of a complete fish feed production line, including a feed crusher, mixer, dryer, cooler, conveyor, packing machine, and other auxiliary equipment.

Step 1: Preparation and Feeding:

When you prepare raw materials based on the formulation, you need to crush them and mix them at first. You have to grind raw materials to 60-80 mesh for optimal extrusion effect, and control the moisture content between 13-18% strictly before feeding into the floating fish feed making machine.

Step 2: High Pressure Extrusion:

A specialized single screw mechanism presses and squeezes the powder materials at high speed, which generates the intense shear and frictional heating in the extrusion chamber. This temperature in the extrusion chamber can be 130-150°C which promotes complete starch gelatinization reaching to 85%-95% maturity, denatures proteins, and effectively kills pathogenic bacteria like Salmonella. Due to the high-temperature and high-pressure processing conditions of floating fish feed pellet mill, the starch in the feed is matured, and the fat is more conducive to digestion and absorption

However, you have to control the right temperature, because excessive temperature may lead to protein denaturation. And the final effect depends on the type of raw materials (e.g., fish meal, soybean meal), and the high temperature time. Long time high temperature may reduce amino acid utilization.

Step 3: Expansion and Forming:

The material undergoes instantaneous decompression within the mold cavity. When the materials come out from the die, they will instantly decompress, the internal moisture evaporates rapidly which expands the pellets into a porous and sponge-like structure to guarantee buoyancy.

Step 4: Precision Cutting:

There is an adjustable rotary cutter in the floating fish feed making machine, which can continuously slice the materials cleanly. Finally the materials turn completely into uniform round-ball type granules (floating pellets).

Raw Material Formulation for Floating Fish Feed Pellet Mill

Before making floating fish feed,you need crush raw materials into powder with fish feed crusher
Raw materials can be: corn,wheat,soybean,grain, bone powder etc
Rice Dust: contains about 10-14% of protein and also contain vitamin B1, B2, B6 and small quantity of enzyme.
Mustard Cake: Mix maximum 40% of cake in the fish feed. But don’t use dry cake more than 20%. Mustard cake also contains a high rate of fat about 30-32% protein.
Wheat Chaff: contain fiber, control many types of fish diseases.
Maize/Corn: contain protein, carbohydrate, fat, vitamin A and E.
Cotton Seeds: contain about 54% protein. It is a better ingredients for supplementary fish feed.
Fish Meal: easily digestible to fish. Fishmeal contains about 55-60% protein.
Bone Meal: very necessary for building fish-bone. The ratio of Calcium to Phosphoru in the bone dust is 2 : 1.
Innards: very suitable and ideal feed for catfish. It contain 52% protein.
